Postal Tuition In Music

It should be appreciated that time is a limiting factor, and students are asked to observe paragraphs 4, 5, 6 and 7 particularly.

Notes

1. A stamped and addressed envelope should be enclosed for the return of work. First class post only.

2. Answers should be written on single sheets of manuscript paper. These are easily filed in order. Manuscript books are cumbersome to post and to handle. Never 'turn over' in the middle of an answer - go on to another single sheet, and if necessary use both sides thus:

3. Manuscript papers and solutions should be returned within the time specified when this is requested.

4, Queries. These are welcomed. Matter to be discussed should be copied out and space left for reply. Avoid referring to books, etc., simply by page - copy out the text or matter. Queries on work set, or on corrections, sent between lessons should be accompanied by a stamped and addressed envelope for reply

5. When question papers are returned before the work is sent, the question should be copied out, or the nature of the problem indicated.

6. Elementary work. Plenty of space should be left for corrections and notes.

7. To avoid misunderstanding, it must be pointed out that a course of ten lessons cannot be extended beyond ten months. At the end of that time a further fee becomes payable if tuition is to be continued.

8. Students should bear in mind that the way to success is by regular study. When possible, weekly or fortnightly lessons should be maintained during normal school terms followed by a week or two rest. One thing to be avoided at all costs - crowding in too much work during the last few weeks before an examination. This places undue strain on both tutor and pupil! Many people find it difficult to maintain consistent effort in the absence of personal contact with a tutor. Those who overcome this difficulty usually meet with success.

9. Students may be interested to know that my filing system contains many items. Much time and thought is being expended to enable students to have the benefit of available matter, and advice, as they request, and your co-operation in such things as the prompt return and care of manuscript, etc., will be much appreciated.
